When it comes to airsoft shotguns, you will find that these weapons are alot like their cousins, the airsoft rifle. Although most of these guns are spring action, that does not mean that they are inferior to all of the other soft air guns available in the market today.
The majority of these weapons spray a 3 shot pattern with the pull of the trigger, although there are some models that will blast a 5 shot pattern as well. Available in the airsoft market these days are the sawed-off shotgun, long and short barrel, spring action and CO2 powered, although these guns tend to be more expensive.
You will be allowed to shoot in a burst pattern of 3 or 5 bb's at the pull of the trigger, or you can shoot just one bb at a time. Most guns have a magazine capacity of around 40-50 bb's, and can shoot approximately 700 single shots with a tank of CO2.
Some airsoft shotguns are supplied with an integrated Weaver/Picatinny rail to allow the acceptance of a laser sight or a scope. A feature that some will have is an actual safety for a secure firing device. Full metal guns are available as well as the more common plastic guns that will be a little less expensive.
Other models utilize a shotshell instead of a magazine and with the realistic pump action of these guns, you get the feel that you are actually firing the real thing. You will find that the majority of these weapons will fire their ammunition at around 300-340 feet per second.
