The Growing Use of Sapphire Ball and Glass Ball Lens in Optics Based Applications

We are not much ignorant about the use of steel ball bearings in most of the industrial works. But those days are long gone as now a day most of the opto-electronic industries and fibre-optic collimation industries are using precision balls such as sapphire ball and glass ball lens in many a machine applications. This change in the every facet of our life is due to the advent of modern technology and science.

These ball lenses are generally manufactured in two forms they are the full ball form and the half ball form. Half ball form is made at a diameter ranging from 1.0 mm to 10.0 mm in various thicknesses as per customers' need. And full ball form is made ranging from 0.25 mm to 8.0 mm in diameter.

These precision balls like sapphire ball and glass ball lens are very useful in many industrial applications. Their electrical insulation properties, high hardness and low density increase the efficiency of machines. These products are much lighter than previously used counterparts. So they have become more competent than others. The life span of these products is also high which reduces the cost of wear and tear of machines.
