Night vision equipments vastly vary from daytime optical devices such as spotting scopes, telescopes, binoculars and rifle scopes. Unlike the other daytime optical devices the NV devices are now about how large you are able to view the objects; rather it is about how clearly you are able to view the objects especially in dim light. The intensifier tube is the single biggest factor in NV device's performance. NV optics devices magnify the light through the intensifier tube. After that the amplified view of the object is sent to the eyepiece. This tube is very sensitive to bright lights and should not be turned on in daylight hours unless the protective lens cap is in place. Most NV scopes required 3 volt camera batteries or a pair of AA cells to power on the device. However, an additional battery may be required for an attached infrared (IR) lamp.
