Choosing the Correct Magnification
The scopes in the Mark III Tactical series are available in a wide range of magnifications and include variable magnification options. You may want to consider a set magnification if you consistently shoot from comparable distances or if you have the ability to use multiple scopes for your changing power needs.
A common mistake made by inexperienced marksmen is to quickly choose the most powerful scope available, believing that bigger is better. While powerful scopes are certainly an asset, they must be used in particular circumstances to infer their full benefit. In some instances, a very powerful scope can actually erode the quality of your shot.
If you do not already have a preference for the power of your scope, a good rule of thumb is to seek a scope that will place your target in your line of view as though it were directly in front of you. You do not want it to be too small, but you also do not want to be shooting at an image that belongs under a microscope.
